The Routes

Our guide / itinerary in the Gallura of the nineteenth century is useful, in that it draws the modern visitor’s attention to the discovery of villages and territories, which have preserved their original features, when compared to their descriptions from two hundred years ago, in urbanist, geographical and environmental terms.

Such a guide is capable of capturing the attention of foreign tourists from the first graphic / visual impact, bringing immediately to their attention that these texts, important for the Sardinian culture, were written perhaps by their own compatriots and published in their country, perhaps in their city, and perhaps in a street still existing and known by them; and above all, these texts are offered to them (or rather re-presented) in their own language.

This is quite fascinating. It means reminding the visitors of today or tomorrow that, somewhat between between 120 and 200 years ago, some of their compatriots had already been here in visit. And not only had they been here, but they had lingered so long to write books of memories, merged with the history of Sardinia itself. A plunge into the past, into history, which urges a shrewd and sensitive reader to meditate, invites him or her to live and see the present enriched by an ancient plot, which their compatriots contributed to write.
